Drs. Chad Stahl and Bhanu Telugu have been awarded a $1.6 million grant from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development of the NIH for their proposal, “A porcine model for investigating the role of an insulin signaling regulator in development and disease”.  Nutritional insufficiency during fetal development results in humans and other animals being born small for gestational age.  This alters metabolic programming, and has severe negative consequences throughout life.  This project will examine a regulator of insulin signalling and the role it plays in metabolic programming during fetal development and subsequent growth.
