2025 College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards:

ANSC faculty and staff received awards and recognition at AGNR’s State of the College and Awards Program on May 15, 2025.

  • Racheal Slattery - On Campus Staff Excellence Award
  • Dr. Li Ma - 2025 Dean's Grantsmanship Award
  • Dr. Heewon Seo - 2025 Dean's Grantsmanship Award
  • Dr. Jiuzhou Song - 2025 Dean's Grantsmanship Award

2025 Provost's Excellence Awards for Professional Track Faculty:

The Provost's Excellence Awards for Professional Track Faculty honor consistently excellent contributions from full-time faculty who have served for at least five years and do not have nor are eligible for tenure. Honorees are recognized in one of the three core areas of academic activity: teaching, research and service.

Dr. Monica VanKlompenberg was named one of three 2025 Provost’s Excellence in Teaching awardees. Dr. VK was nominated by Dr. Tom  Porter and will be honored at the 2025 Faculty & Staff Convocation on Sept. 17, 2025. 

2025 Maryland Research Excellence Celebration and Exemplary Researcher Awards:

Every year the University of Maryland recognizes one faculty member nominated by their dean from each school or college for special recognition as having best exemplified research excellence. The Maryland Research Excellence Celebration was held at the Hotel at the University of Maryland and co-hosted by the Division of Research and the Office of the Provost, honored the distinct and notable accomplishments of University of Maryland researchers and recognized the impacts and outcomes of their work.

Dr. Lisa Taneyhill was honored as the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources’ 2025 Exemplary Researcher. Dr. Taneyhill’s research focuses on understanding the formation of specific cell types critical to human development and disease. Throughout her career, she has been continuously supported by funding from NIH, NSF, and the American Cancer Society. Currently, she is developing an innovative model to better understand familial dysautonomia, a life-threatening disorder affecting neurons. She is a fellow of the American Association for Anatomy.
