Roselina Angel, professor at the University of Maryland (UMD), was recently recognized with the 2021 Poultry Science Association Distinguished Poultry Industry Career Award, sponsored by U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY). This career award recognizes distinctive, outstanding contributions by an industry leader. In addition to sponsoring the award, USPOULTRY also makes an annual contribution to the Poultry Science Association Foundation on behalf of the award recipient.

“I am greatly honored to receive this award as it validates my most cherished goal in terms of impacts of my team’s research at UMD,” says Angel. “What keeps me going has been a goal of making a difference in the way we produce poultry meat and eggs such that we have a minimum impact on the environment while maintaining or improving productivity at lower costs. Adoption by the industry of tools we have helped to generate, that have helped them continue in their upward trend in productivity while minimizing environmental impacts and possibly improving animal welfare, has been our ultimate goal.”
