Students graduating with ANSC degrees recognized across the department, college, and university
The Spring 2024 graduation celebrations marked the end of a rewarding school year and for some the completion of their academic journey at the University of Maryland. Animal and Avian Sciences graduates were recognized at the department, college, and university levels.
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Commencement Ceremony was on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Reckord Armory. The University of Maryland’s Commencement Ceremony was on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the SECU Stadium with Maryland Governor Wes Moore delivering the commencement address.
Every year, the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Alumni Network awards outstanding members of the graduating class. Bridget Naughton was selected as ANSC’s Outstanding Undergraduate Student, and Grace Markley was ANSC’s Outstanding Graduate Student. ANSC students Becca Fuguen and Thomas Podles were awarded Outstanding Service to AGNR Awards, Fuguen for academics and Podles for research.
Additionally, ANSC recognizes departmental leadership and academic achievement of our graduating students. In the Undergraduate Program, the ANSC Outstanding Leadership Awards went to: Megha Chaudhari, Kaitlyn Drew, Katerina Fortouna, Nyla Lewis, Michaela Riedel, and Olivia Scuderi. The ANSC Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards went to: Beca Fuquen, Sullivan Haine, Brittany Johnson, Grace Kelly, India Mayo, Tommy Podles, Joseph Takacs, and Tate Yuen. Brennan Budke and Bridget Naughton were awarded both the ANSC Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards. In the Graduate Program, Most Outstanding M.S. Student of the Year was awarded to Mariana da Silva, and Most Outstanding Ph.D. Student of the Year was awarded to Margaret Hines and Kuan Ling Liu.
