Staying on track with ANSC courses

Students entering ANSC in the fall semester take ANSC101/103 their first semester here, which is not an option available to students entering the major in the spring semester. ANSC103 (lab) is ONLY offered in the fall, but ANSC101 (lecture) is offered both fall and spring. ANSC101/103 are prerequisites for our ANSC211 course, which students generally take the fall of their second year in ANSC. To help student stay on track with academic progress, we will let students co-enroll in ANSC103 and ANSC211, provided they meet certain conditions.

**In all cases, meeting the below conditions only designates a student is eligible to be considered to co-enroll. Co-enrollment permission is still subject to the discretion of the instructor and Undergraduate Office, and also dependent upon available seats.**

In order to be eligible to be considered to co-enroll in ANSC103 and ANSC211, you must meet the following criteria prior to the semester in which you would take ANSC103 and ANSC211:

If you are currently enrolled in ANSC 101 for Spring or have completed ANSC101 in a previous semester:

1. Complete ANSC101 in Spring (with a grade of C- or better)

2. Complete BSCI170/171 (formerly BSCI105) with a grade of “C-” or better.

3. Be declared as an ANSC major

If you are NOT currently enrolled in ANSC101 for Spring, you would be requesting to co-enroll for fall in ANSC101/103 AND ANSC211. Because you do not have the benefit of already having completed ANSC101, you would need to meet additional requirements to be eligible to be considered for co-enrollment. You must do the following:

1. Complete BSCI170/171 (formerly BSCI105) with a grade of “C-” or better prior to the semester in which you would co-enroll.

2. Take at least one other lab science course (CHEM131/132, BSCI160/161, etc) prior to co-enrollment.

3. Earn a grade of “C-” or better in ALL lab science courses you complete.

4. Be declared as an ANSC major

For either scenario, you MUST meet all stated conditions, AND be in good academic standing (not on academic probation) or you will not be eligible to be considered to co-enroll in ANSC103 and ANSC211.

Please note that meeting these conditions would ONLY grant you permission to co-enroll in ANSC211, not other courses where ANSC101/103 are required. Those MUST be taken after completing ANSC101 AND ANSC103.
