- Chair Animal Care Committee of the Poultry Science Association (2003-2004).

- U.S. Patent # US 6,289,848, B1 September 18. Method and device for distributing fowl within an enclosure.
- U.S.A. Regional Secretary of the International Society for Applied Ethology, (2005-Present).
- Academic advisor for the National Chicken Council Animal and Perdue Farms Animal Welfare Programs (2001-present).
- Advisor to the American Humane Association for welfare standards in poultry.
- Author of 42 refereed scientific papers, 9 invited articles, 2 book chapters and over 60 conference presentations.
- Invited Editor Special Issue for the Journal of Applied Animal Behavior Science.
- P.I. in 7 grants which total $738,000 and co-PI in 3 ($400,000).
Awards and Honors:
- 1991 and 1993 Research Award in Ethology, (Gonzálo Nardiz Award), Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government, Spain,
- 2 USDA-NRI grants in the Animal reproduction “Behavioral and morphological traits associated with fertility in broiler breeders.” and Animal protection programs “Movement in farm animals: Techniques for accurately assessing effects of experimental factors.”
