Extension Program:

Dr. Burk is involved in adult and youth extension activities related to equine science and management throughout Maryland. She provides statewide educational leadership to youth in the Maryland 4-H Horse Program. Dr. Ordakowski-Burk has been working together with Rebekah Cosden (hyperlink: rcosden@wam.umd.edu), our new 4-H Horse Program Assistant to coordinate State Contests including Horse Bowl, Horse Judging, Hippology, and Horse Communications, an annual Horse Judging Clinic, Horse Performance Levels, and the Maryland 4-H Horse Program Website (hyperlink: www.4hhorse.umd.edu).

Dr. Burk also serves as the co-chair of the 2007 Equine Nutrition and Physiology Symposium to be held in Hunt Valley, MD, and serves on the planning committees for the University Seminars at Horse World Expo and Equine Session of the Mid-Atlantic Animal Nutrition Symposium. Since joining the faculty in 2001, Dr. Ordakowski-Burk has given 28 horse related talks to youth and adult members of the horse industry.
