America's dairy industry continues to lead agriculture as it launches an exciting new Internet-based information and education tool for producers, allied industry partners, Cooperative Extension employees, and consumers. This dairy cattle website, DAIReXNET, will launch at the World Dairy Expo October 2-6, in Madison, WI.

"Four leaders of the dairy industry in Maryland will be inducted into the Maryland Dairy Shrine at the annual banquet Saturday Febrauary 16th at the Lynfield Event Complex north of Frederick on Route 15.
Those honored will be the late Luther Huston, William "Buddy" Hill, Theodore "Ted" Ridgely and Dr. Lee J. Majeskie.

"Historically, many nutritionists recommended that livestock be fed extra nitrogen-containing protein and phosphorus to provide a 'margin of error,' designed to maximize production and guarantee animal health and reproductive performance," says Dr. Rick Kohn. "However, scientific research has shown that livestock can be fed rations that provide a better balance of amino acids, minerals in more digestible forms, and other improvements. Adding excess nutrients is unnecessary to maximize production and in fact, eliminating them could reduce feeding costs."
